Rance has always had a passion for music. When he was a teenager, he went to concerts all the time as a teenager. He saw Bob Dylan in 1964 and attended the Monterey International Pop Festival in 1967 and saw every concert which included the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix Otis Redding and the Who just to name a few.
As a college student, Rance promoted concerts at the local college in Monterey, Ca in the late 60’s.
He booked all the major California acts of the day. This included; the Grateful Dead, Santana, Charlie Musselwhite, Taj Mahal, Elvin Bishop, Country Joe and the Fish and the Steve Miller Band.
After retiring from his corporate job, Rance started his concert promotion business carrying on his love for live music by promoting music concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Some of the artists that he produced were John Mayall, Tuck and Patti, Mimi Fox, Calvin Keys, Harvey Mandel, New West Guitar Group, Tom Armstrong and the Branded Men, Zydeco Flames, Blackie Farrell with Bobby Black, Jinx Jones, Macy Blackman, Howell Devine.
Rance moved to Asheville NC in 2019. Since the Pandemic was just starting, he really could not start producing shows in Asheville.
Now 3 years later he is just starting to review venues for potential shows in Asheville.
In the meantime he is a member of the Asheville Guitar League and has been booking the local artists for the Guitar League’s monthly meetings.
Red Legged Frog Productions will be promoting both local as well as national artists in the various halls and theaters in the Asheville Area soon.
